Other Services We Specialize In

Radon Testing

Radon is a cancer-causing, radioactive gas. The Surgeon General has warned that radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer, killing 21,000 people per year in the United States. You cannot see, smell or taste radon, however, when you breathe air containing radon, you increase your risk of getting lung cancer. Testing is the only way to find out your home’s radon levels. The EPA and the Surgeon General recommend testing all homes for radon. If you find that there are high levels, the home can be fixed. Even very high levels of radon can be reduced to acceptable levels.

Mold Sampling

Mold is a naturally occurring process that is present throughout the world. Some circumstances can provide adverse and potentially dangerous conditions to humans when certain species of molds are present in a home. Through professional sampling, the actual presence of mold can be determined and by what means would be necessary to treat the specimen found within the home.

Asbestos

Homes built prior to 1980 may have products and components that relied upon asbestos fibers for strength, durability and fire retardancy. With today's love for remodeling projects, asbestos fibers have a chance to become airborne, which is why asbestos is now considered to be a health concern. The BrickKicker understands where and how the various building products containing asbestos were used and may offer sampling and lab services to determine if asbestos is present.

Pest

Many homes across the country are subject to shared occupancy with pest, mainly for shelter but others may use the home as a food source. It is only through a thorough and professional pest inspection that one can be confident any unwanted visitors do not set up shop within the home. These tests and inspections are often provided as a specific service through an outside professional source and considered beyond the scope of the standard inspection or home inspection license.

Water Quality

Water testing is required with certain loan programs when the property is served by a private well. Laboratory testing can take several days to complete so check with your lender well before the end of your due diligence period. You should also remember that you do not have to live in a rural community or have a private well to be concerned about water quality. Older pipes could be dirty or clogged. Newer pipes could be constructed out of materials which are known to have issues. The BrickKicker is aware of these concerns and can either provide testing for you or help you arrange to have your water tested.

Pre-Listing Inspections

Pre-Listing inspections are a great exercise for sellers to get ahead of any potential surprises that may come up when the buyers of the home have their own independent inspection. Although very similar to a buyers inspection, a pre-listing inspection will help you put a priority list together so you can sell your home without having to sweat the small stuff.
