Commercial inspections involve a visual examination or readily objective visual examination of readily accessible areas, physical structure and operating systems of the space.

This process occurs in a timely and efficient manner, giving clients the peace of mind to continue on with business.

Other Services We Specialize In

Radon Testing

Radon is a cancer-causing, radioactive gas. The Surgeon General has warned that radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer, killing 21,000 people per year in the United States. You cannot see, smell or taste radon, however, when you breathe air containing radon, you increase your risk of getting lung cancer. Testing is the only way to find out your home’s radon levels. The EPA and the Surgeon General recommend testing all homes for radon. If you find that there are high levels, the home can be fixed. Even very high levels of radon can be reduced to acceptable levels.

New Construction

Most “New Construction” homes have undergone a rigorous municipal or code compliance inspection process, likely at least four “code” inspections. The BrickKicker new construction inspection goes beyond that, looking at the home for not only the functionality of the systems but those cosmetic and unfinished items as well. A new construction inspection will assist you with your Punch List creation and interpretation, helping to ensure your home is perfect before taking ownership.

Water Quality

Water testing is required with certain loan programs when the property is served by a private well. Laboratory testing can take several days to complete so check with your lender well before the end of your due diligence period. You should also remember that you do not have to live in a rural community or have a private well to be concerned about water quality. Older pipes could be dirty or clogged. Newer pipes could be constructed out of materials which are known to have issues. The BrickKicker is aware of these concerns and can either provide testing for you or help you arrange to have your water tested.

Certified Inspections

FHA, VA and 203K are all types of loans which will require certain minimum standards be present before a loan is presented. Systems like: Heating, Plumbing, Electrical, Structural, Roof, Thermal and Weatherproofing all require certain standards be met. The BrickKicker inspector is certified to provide the necessary documents for each one of these. There is no reason to call for one, two or every three different contractors to provide these documents.

The BrickKicker of Vermont

Home Inspections in Chittenden County and Beyond

The BrickKicker – Vermont, formerly known as The BrickKicker of Champlain Valley, has been the leading building inspection company in Northern Vermont for 20+ years and is excited to announce a change in ownership. Calvin Caswell, 31, of Fairfax, has acquired The BrickKicker from Dustin LeBlanc, following in the footsteps of the original owner, Guy Henning.

Regarding the transition, Calvin Caswell stated, “I look forward to continuing to provide the same high-quality home inspections, radon testing, air quality testing, water quality testing, and foundation certifications that our clients have come to expect.”

Calvin Caswell brings a wealth of experience and passion for construction to his new role. His journey began as a child, moving concrete blocks with his radio flyer wagon and building his own sugarhouse at age 17. As a volunteer firefighter for over 15 years—first with the Underhill-Jericho Fire Department and currently with the Fairfax Fire Department—Calvin has encountered a wide range of home systems in various conditions.

Having trained and apprenticed under Dustin LeBlanc for several months, Calvin has gained extensive hands-on experience through dozens of inspections. He is an InterNACHI certified and state-licensed inspector, committed to upholding the highest standards in every inspection.
